Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 was his most understated and transparent, concluding with an orchestral song based on a German folk poem that presents a child’s view of heaven. Soprano Heather Hill sings the final movement of the symphony, as well as a Mozart aria and a short work by 12^th-century composer, poet and abbess Hildegard von Bingen which serves as the basis for the only purely orchestral work on the program, Rainbow Body by American composer Chris Theofanidis.

ConcerTalks explore the composers of the works on the concert and their milieu as well as an in-depth look at each composition on the program.

• Group prices (for 10 or more paid tickets) are available. Group ticket purchases must be coordinated through the YSO office at 509-248-1414 during regular office hours, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
• Tickets for students/children are $5.00 plus the Capitol Theatre Patron User Fee of $2.00. Purchase student/children’s tickets during box office hours by phone at 509-853-ARTS (2787) or in person at the Capitol Theatre Box Office. Student ID or visual verification of age (for younger children) is required to pick up student/children’s tickets.
