Opening night for the YSO’s 2022-23 season begins with the world premiere of Maestro Lawrence Golan’s Fantasia for Orchestra, adapted from his earlier Fantasia for Solo Violin, and closes with Tchaikovsky’s brilliant Fifth Symphony. Along the way, Lebanese composer and percussionist Rony Barrak is featured on Darbouka in his concerto Beirut Sensations, and the orchestra presents Pulitzer-Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s ethereal blue cathedral.

ConcerTalks explore the composers of the works on the concert and their milieu as well as an in-depth look at each composition on the program.
