Internationally renowned violin superstar Joshua Bell will join the Yakima Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Bruch’s famous Violin Concerto No. 1. To celebrate five decades of the YSO, the program will open with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
The YSO is thrilled to perform this program with Mr. Bell, one of the most celebrated artists of his era. During a career that has spanned almost four decades, he has performed with virtually every major orchestra in the world, and he continues to maintain engagements as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, conductor, and Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. His 1998 recording of the soundtrack for the film The Red Violin helped Joshua Bell become a household name and garnered an Academy Award for composer John Corigliano. The GRAMMY® Award-winning violinist has starred in numerous PBS specials, recorded more than 40 albums as an exclusive Sony Classical Artist, and performed for three American presidents and the sitting justices of the Supreme Court. Beyond his busy performance schedule, Mr. Bell maintains an active involvement in and commitment to arts education.
